About Library Media Services
The mission of the Pearland ISD Libraries is to provide innovative library services and quality resources that facilitate discovery and enhance student learning. All students are welcome to read, explore, and express ideas in an open and safe environment.
In compliance with Texas Senate Bill 13, Pearland ISD invites the public to review our proposed library book purchases for 30 days before final Board approval. We value our parents’ input and invite you to submit comments on any book listed using the link provided.

Destiny Parent Portal
In compliance with Texas Senate Bill 13 and in partnership with Follett Destiny, Pearland ISD provides parents and guardians with access to Destiny Discover, our library catalog. This access enables you to review and manage the checkout history of your student(s) within Pearland ISD.
Through the Destiny Parent Portal, you can search the catalog available to your student and choose to block specific book titles or authors if you wish. As a parent or primary guardian, you may also view any blocked items and the checkout history for each of your student(s).
Please note that once a book is blocked, it cannot be checked out by the student or overridden by library staff. Only you have the authority to remove a block on any item in the catalog.
For more information and video instructions on access and use, please see below. Click here to print directions.

Sora, our eBook and Audio book program, now allows you to see the books your student has access to, books they have checked out, or allows you to lock individual books in the platform. See the information on how to turn on and use the Sora Parent Controls here.
Library Standards
In 2023, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 900 (88th R.S.), also known as the READER Act. This legislation required TSLAC to adopt standards, approved by a majority vote of the State Board of Education, for school library collection development that a school district shall adhere to in developing or implementing the district’s library collection development policies. The State Board of Education and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission approved the new standards in December 2023, and they became effective January 3, 2024.
Please see the links found on this page to access resources, standards, and guidelines we use to procure books in Pearland ISD.
