Pearland ISD Honor Gallery: Celebrating our Local Heroes
Students grades K-8 recently came together to participate in the Pearland ISD Honor Gallery: Celebrating our Local Heroes. The project is an effort to pay tribute to all professionals who have continued to work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, risking their lives and serving our community.
With the instruction and support of their art teachers, students from fourteen Pearland ISD schools produced a total of more than 140 pieces of art honoring first-responders, healthcare professionals, food services/restaurants workers, grocery store staff and all other essential employees, such as teachers, education professionals and truck drivers.
The Honor Gallery allowed students not only to show their appreciation for essential workers but to also exhibit their artistic talents as well as improve skills learned in the classroom, such as using critical thinking, imagination, applying the elements of art and principles of design.
