Substitutes

Pearland ISD appreciates your efforts to ensure the educational process is not interrupted and to prepare students to perform at their highest potential.

All new substitutes to the District are required to attend an orientation. This orientation will give the district the opportunity to meet you and discuss Pearland ISD expectations and policies.

Retired PISD Employees

Are you a retired PISD employee and want to be a substitute teacher? Please contact the Substitute Office at 281/485-3203 for additional instructions. 
 

Requirements:

Substitute teachers must meet one of the following criteria:

  • have completed a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited college or university or
  • have a college degree from an accredited college or university or
  • have a Texas Teaching Certificate

    **A high school diploma or GED for clerical substitute positions.

    ***At least two years of study at an institution of higher education for paraprofessional substitute positions.

Substitute Process

You MUST complete all necessary requirements listed below prior to becoming a substitute. 

Step 1. Complete Online Application: 

Complete the substitute online application via Frontline once class registration is open on date indicated above. You must attach transcripts and certifications. Click here to review the district application procedures.

Step 2. Fingerprinting:

If fingerprinting is needed, you will receive an email with your fingerprint Fast Pass information from Identgo. The applicant is responsible for the fingerprint fee. 

Step 3. Substitute Teacher New Hire Forms: 

You will receive an email to set up an account with Frontline. Once an account has been created, you will login to Frontline to complete your New Hire Forms.

Step 4. Once steps 2 and 3 have been completed, reach out to the Substitute Office to schedule a time to bring in the following:
  • Acceptable, unexpired documents for your I-9 (do not print out I-9 form)
  • Fingerprint receipt, if applicable
Step 5. Orientation:

An orientation is required and upon completion you will receive your ID badge. 

Substitute for Campus Clinics:

*Do you or someone you know meet the below qualifications to substitute as a Nurse and may be interested in making extra money? If so, please view and share the information below. 

Nurse Substitutes: $122 per day
  • Valid RN
  • Valid CPR Certification
