Communities In Schools

Our Mission

Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Who We Are

Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County (CIS), is a combination of two 501(c) 3 nonprofit organizations.  CIS of Brazoria County and Southeast Harris County provide exemplary services that empower students to successfully learn, stay in school and achieve in life.  Our primary focus is to provide students with the necessary resources, tools, and real-world skills that give them the opportunity to be successful in school and beyond the classroom.

What We Do

CIS offers during the day and afterschool programs that partner with school district, educators, parents and community partners to identify barriers to success and address the students’ needs.  Once the needs are identified, CIS customizes support for students and families providing individual case management services while engaging the community as part of this process.  CIS reviews individual academics, behavior, attendance and tracks education outcomes for all students served.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County believe that transformative relationships are key to unlocking a student’s potential. We will succeed by including in our strategies, ingraining in our culture, and reflecting in our behaviors, principles, and practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a result, we break down immediate and systemic barriers to create and sustain equitable outcomes.
