Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to my 5th grade science website! The website will be used as a form of communication for both students and parents. I encourage you to navigate around the site using the links on the left-hand side. You will find a lot of fun, exciting, and important information that will be helpful throughout the 2019 - 2020 school year.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jacqui Singleton, and I graduated from the University of Houston Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified to teach EC-4 (all subjects) and 4-8 Science. This is my 14th year to teach, and I love what I do. I dig being a part of the Sablatura staff and 5th grade. Science is my passion, so opening the eyes and minds of students to the world of science is what I enjoy the most. I look forward to teaching your children. This will be a spectacular school year!!!

If you are unable to meet at the school for a conference, we can work together to set up a time to speak over the phone.
Be on the lookout! Every Tuesday a GREEN folder will go home with each student. It will contain important things such as - Graded papers, and/or notes from me or the school.
It will also contain your child's conduct card. Remember to sign it and place it back in the Tuesday folder. Students will return their Tuesday folder on Wednesday.
All corrected assignments are due back by Friday of the same week.
Students will write in their agendas every day. Please review your child's agenda nightly for homework assignments or special notes.
You can stay informed about your child's grades by looking in the Tuesday folder at their graded assignments and by checking Skyward. We encourage the students and parents to check Skyward weekly.
Every week students will be assigned science homework. I assign homework on Monday and it is due on Friday - S.O.S. questions/vocabulary. Homework will be completed on join.quizizz.com. Students will receive a 6 digit homework code on Monday. They can complete the homework up to 5 times throughout the week. I will record the highest grade in the gradebook. Due by Friday at 8:30 a.m.
If a student doesn't complete his/her homework by Friday, the student will sign the "No Homework" binder. A zero will be entered into the grade book until the student completes the homework for up to a 70. Students have until Monday to complete the missing homework or their grade stays a zero.
Homework is 10% of your child's report card grade. You can find the homework assignment on the peek of the week, class website, and in your child's agenda.
Students also need to study their vocabulary. The words for the week can be found in your child's science notebook. Vocabulary words and the definitions can also be found on my teacher website.
