Ms. Gaughan

I am very excited to teach Art I at Pearland High School this year.  In 2014, I had an opportunity to intern in the art department at PHS and have worked as a Teacher in the district since 2015.  I am a graduate of University of Houston - Clear Lake and hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts/Applied Design and Art EC12 Certification.  At UHCL, I was fortunate enough to participate in the Art School for Children and Young Adults.  This program enabled me to teach at after school programs in the Clear Creek ISD and at the UHCL campus to various grade levels and to home-schooled students.  Prior to teaching, I worked as a Relocation Specialist and Realtor for 25 years.  My love of art and design and my extensive family history of educators eventually led me to the art classroom.

Outside of the art classroom, I enjoy travel; photography; real estate and home design; riding my beach cruiser; hanging out on the ocean; going on foodie adventures; spending time wtih my family and taking care of my three elderly rescue dogs.  I also enjoy art museum and gallery visits during travel or in my spare time.  I have resided in Houston for the past thirty years and I love living in close proximity to our wonderful museum district.   Some of my favorite art museums are The Met, MOMA, The Menil, Georgia O'Keefe and The Acropolis Museum located in Athens, Greece.  I was fortunate enough to visit the Acropolis and many archeological museums during my recent travels, which had always been a dream of mine.  As an artist, I enjoy pen and ink; metal jewelry design; painting and ceramics.  My goal is to spend more time in my home art studio.

This year, I am looking forward to reuniting with former art students as incoming freshmen and to meet all of my Art I students.  We are going to have a fantastic and creative year at PHS.
