Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Kindergarten!
I'm looking forward to a very exciting year working with you and your child.
My name is Kimberly Voelkel. If you are wondering how to pronounce my name...the "o" is silent. It is pronounced "Velkel."
My Professional Background:
I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston in 2002. I then went on to receive my teaching certification for early childhood through fourth grade. I graduated with my Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from University of St. Thomas.
This will be my 15th year as an educator.
Professional Associations include:
Alpha Delta Kappa Delta Lambda chapter which is an honorary sorority for women educators
Kappa Delta Pi- an International Honor Society in the field of Education.
Some Personal Information:
My Hobbies: Definitely reading (Amazon Kindle loves me), playing with my kids, kickboxing, going to the movies, spending time with my friends, and finding and creating new and interesting learning activities for my students (YAY Pinterest!).
My favorite classroom time is during small groups because I get a chance to get to know my students. Getting to know my students as people, as well as learners, is extremely important when it comes to building relationships that will create lifelong learners.
