Coach May

I was born in Minnesota but got to Texas as fast as I could!  I lived a short time in Tomball, Texas but moved to Keller, Texas (North of Fort Worth) where I spent the majority of my childhood.  I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Elementary Education focusing on child psychology and junvenile sociolgy.  This is my sixth year of teaching and coaching and my fourth year at Pearland Junior High West.  I have previously taught 8th grade math, Algebra II and Pre-Calculus at the high school level and coached basketball, track, cross country and soccer.  I have always loved math which lead to my interest in teaching and am very athletic which makes coaching incredibly rewarding.

In addition, I am a member of the Alumnae Advisory Committee for Alpha Omicron Pi at Texas A&M University, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Alumnae through my own chapter at Oklahoma State, I have my own wedding and event planning business, and I volunteer in student ministry through my church back home in Southlake, Texas.  As a strong advocate for life-long learning, I involve my students in real-world applications of math to use in their everyday life and future endeavors.  Through my experiences in the mental health field I understand every student learns differently and has different coping mechanisms to deal with every day ups and downs.
