Also, the link below is a reading log bookmark that you can print to keep track of reading time. If you are not able to print a piece of regular paper works wonderfully too!

Reading Log

  •  Dear Sumatran Family,

I have found an interesting and easy to use website through Scholastic Magazine that will help your student continue to grow as a learner over this extended break. This website has four different articles per day that students can read and do various activities such as watching videos, making graphic organizers, and writing journal entries. The articles are high interest, and your student can listen to them as they read.
    Here is the link:
In addition to working on this website, please continue to encourage your child to read by setting aside at least 30 minutes of reading time a day.  Reading is the best way to develop new vocabulary and critical thinking skills.
Students can find e-books from these sources- Sora/Overdrive and Destiny Discover. Both programs are free to our students and can be downloaded as an app or used on a desktop.
Here is the link for Sora:
Be sure to indicate Alexander Middle School as the home school.

You can also find links to both websites on Alexander Middle School’s Library Page.
As I learn more information concerning our school closure, I will contact you through Skyward emails and Class DoJo messages. I am here to support you and your student so please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
