BA - Biochemistry Certification: Physical Science 8-12
Mr. Garrett Dyer
Welcome, my name is Garrett Dyer, and I am excited about Physics for the 2022-2023 school year!
After receiving my Bachelor's from Baylor University in Biochemistry, I worked at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center researching peptide mimetic cancer drugs in one of the few organic chemistry labs that they had at that time. I then began my teaching career in 2006 after getting certified to teach physical science. I am proud to be a part of the Oiler Family here at Pearland High School. At PHS, you can find me teaching AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and co-sponsoring our Robotics team. I am a native of Dallas, TX (Go Cowboys), and I have two amazing children.
My goal is to ensure that students enjoy learning AP Physics as much as I enjoy teaching it. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
Physics is an esteemed branch of science that tries to describe a complex universe with simple and useful clarifying laws.
AP Physics 1 is an introductory college level Physics course. Students will be expected to take the AP Physics exam in May. This course will require an extensive amount of work and studying outside of class time.
AP Physics 2 is a full-year course that is the equivalent of a second-semester introductory college course in algebra-based physics. Students should have completed AP Physics 1 or a comparable introductory physics course and should have taken or be concurrently taking pre-calculus or an equivalent course.
My conference period will be during 2nd period from 8:09 am - 8:57 am on each regular school day this year. Feel free to email me if you would like to set up a conference time.
My room number is 2102
