Mrs. Andrea Peel
Welcome! I am excited to be entering my 10th year of teaching and to be one of your guides through the worlds of language and literature. I am also very excited to be joining our excellent Pearland Academic Decathlon team as one of the coaches.
For AP English Language and Composition, we will study the art of persuasion and how authors craft arguments, speeches, and essays. We will also study the broader context of our pieces, aligning with AP U.S. History, so that students know the broader social issues which inspired our authors to speak out. Students will take the AP test in May to demonstrate their knowledge and earn college credit. This was my favorite course I took in high school and I am very excited to be able to share my love for the subject with you.
About Me
I am a member of the Pearland community myself, where I live with my husband, Brandon, and my 2 kids, Lorelai who is 7 and Vincent who is 5. I am a proud 2013 graduate of The University of Houston, where I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English Literature and minored in secondary education. I also have my Master's in English- Rhetoric and Composition from Eastern Illinois University. Reading is my favorite pastime, and spending my weekends making memories with my kids. I am also very proud to have been selected as PHS's teacher of the year for 2020-21.
