Degrees and Certifications:
English Language Arts and Reading 8-12 English as a Second Language Supplemental 8-12
Mrs. Andrea Peel
Welcome! I am excited to be entering my 9th year of teaching and to be one of your guides through the worlds of language and literature.
For English I PAP, this course will help lay the foundation for your future success in English and in all of your other courses. We will spend our time learning to read and write critically, always pushing beyond the surface level of everything we read and write together. I am always here to help you succeed in whatever way I can. My contact information is below, and the easiest way to reach me is via email.
For AP English Language and Composition, we will study the art of persuasion and how authors craft arguments, speeches, and essays. We will also study the broader context of our pieces, aligning with AP U.S. History so that students know the broader social issues which inspired our authors to speak out. Students will take the AP test in May to demonstrate their knowledge and earn college credit. This was my favorite course I took in high school and I am very excited to be able to share my love for the subject with you.
I am a member of the Pearland community myself, where I live with my husband, Brandon, and my 2 kids, Lorelai who is 6 and Vincent who is 4. I am a proud 2013 graduate of The University of Houston, where I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English Literature and minored in secondary education. I am now working towards my Master's in English- Rhetoric and Composition from Eastern Illinois University. Reading is my favorite past time, and spending my weekends making memories with my kids. I am also very proud to have been selected as PHS's teacher of the year for 2020-21.
