Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. V. Torres-French
I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Miller High School. I began college at TAMUK and finished up at UTPA in Edinburg (now UTRGV). After I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Art Education, I stayed in the Rio Grande Valley and taught for over a decade in several local school districts (Mission CISD, Donna ISD (where I also taught violin) and McAllen ISD). While teaching in the valley, I earned a master's degree at Lamar University in Educational Administration and became certified as a Principal. In 2014, my family decided it was time for a change and we moved to Pearland. I taught in Houston ISD for one year before being lucky enough to attain a position in Pearland ISD. The last three school years, I served as the Fine Arts Facilitator and taught Art at Turner High School before transfering to Dawson High School to teach full time again. I will be teaching Art 1, Pre Ap Studio Art and Co-Sponsoring the Student Council. I am also back in school full time taking additional graduate courses at Angelo State Univerisity, where I am seeking a certification in Guidance and Counseling.
My family (husband, three daughters, my mother and my cat, Jacques Pierre Fluffybottom) love living in Pearland. My daughters attend the local schools, currently Silverlake Elem. and Dawson High School (Kindergarten, 4th grade and 9th grade). My oldest daugther will be on the Dawson Diamonds and I am looking forward to cheering her (and the football team) on at all of the football games!
I know I will have a great time teaching at Dawson High School this year (my 16th year in education) and working with the amazing staff. I know my students will do great things!
