Hello! Welcome to the 2020-21 school year and thanks for visiting my webpage! As a teacher at PACE Alternative Learning Academy, my role involves making English Language Arts both engaging and practical to my students. Here, you'll find all the links needed to complete weekly assignments as the school year progresses. Since the majority of work this year will be completed online, students will need to have their district login information before they begin each class. I will send post updates throughout the year on this page or via Skyward. Also, check my calendar on this website for updates on assignment due dates and the PISD calendar. 

Alternative Learning Academy Daily Schedule: 

7-7:30: Intake

7:30-8:40: 1st Period

8:45-9:55: 2nd Period

10:00-11:45: 3rd Period

- 10:45-11:15: ALA Lunch

11:50-1:02: 4th Period

1:08-1:50: 5th Period (My conference pd.) 

1:55-2:50: 6th Period

Virtual Meet the Teacher Night:

"Meet the Teacher" night for PACE is on Monday, Sept. 14th. You can join my meeting on Zoom between 5:30-7pm to discuss expectations for the classroom, questions about content, or just for an introduction to my class. Fall STAAR Testing:

We will be holding make-up testing sessions for English STAAR on December 8th and 10th. I will help proctor both English 1 and English 2 testing, so if you are scheduled to participate, please be at PACE on time to have best opportunity for success! Good luck to all of our participants!

Fall Final Exam Schedule:

This semester is almost completed! We've reached the last academic week of 2020 and will prepare to take final exams this week. This will be the ALA schedule for exams this week:

Tuesday (12/15):

- 9th takes English

- 10th takes Social Studies

- 11th takes Science

- 12th takes Math

Wednesday (12/16):

- 9th takes Social Studies/Science

- 10th takes Science/Math

- 11th takes Math/English

- 12th takes English/Social Studies

Thursday (12/17):

- 9th takes Math

- 10th takes English

- 11th takes Social Studies

- 12th takes Science

Friday (12/18) will be reserved for any missing exams or elective exams that have yet to be fulfilled. Keep in mind that Friday is an early release day, so taking your exam at its originally scheduled time would be best if possible.

Spring Asynchronous School Days:

This month starts our first of 4 virtual school days this semester. The following days will be asynchronous learning days:

- Friday, January 29th

- Friday, February 26th

- Friday, March 26th

- Friday, April 23rd

ALA students MUST check-in with all of their teachers on Microsoft TEAMS and complete work in order to earn their points for each of these days.

This will be an early release day as students will attend from 7:15-11:38 a.m., so taking your exam at its originally scheduled time would be best if possible.
