US HIST Syllabus

2022-23 

I am Mr. Rios and I am glad that you are part of my class. I am looking forward to this upcoming school year as we walk through almost 400 years of US History together. We are a young nation that has learned a lot through our history some good and some bad, but that is what makes us who we are. You are the same way. You are young and somethings in life have been good, but some have been bad, and this has shaped you into who you are today. You are not done being shaped and are learning how to become who you want to be and just like the U.S. we need to learn from our past to be better. 

Everyday needs in class: LAPTOP/TABLET - phones are not an alternative. The school will be issuing laptops again this year.

2 - 150 notebook paper

2 - Kleenex Boxes (Free 100)

1 - Pack of Pencils

1 - Map Pencils 

Grading: All tests and projects are 60% of student's grades and 40% are daily assignments and quizzes. 

Class Time: Be alert and attentive. Be ready to learn as you walk in class. We will have a warm-up on the board when you walk in and are expected to get to work on that immediately. No phones/Airpods this year. If I see it, I take it.

Behavior Expectations: I have high expectations for behavior. I want to have a great year and if we respect each other this will make for a fun year, if we are having issues with behavior then we will take care of those following our behavior management plan that is posted in the classroom. 

The education of every student is important to me and is valued to the fullest; by myself, teachers, and administration. Every student has the right to learn in an environment that allows learning without disruption from others. The following are non-negotiables in my classroom: Following directions, no talking why I am talking, be honest, respectful to all, and responsible. Staying on task and following directions help students stay out of trouble.  

I am here to help you succeed.
