Welcome! My name is Courtney Steele. I am very excited to be teaching English 1 here at Pearland High School for the 2022-2023 school year!  I was introduced to the idea of becoming a teacher by the US Peace Corps. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in International Studies with the intention of starting a career in development and applied to be a Peace Corps Volunteer, stating that I had no preference for where I wanted to go and what sector I would like to be in. I was chosen as an Education Volunteer and sent to South Africa. I lived in a rural village called Mokumuru and taught at their primary school for 2 years. I taught 5-6 grade English and 7th grade Social Studies and Creative Arts. It was there I discovered my passion for teaching and when I returned I eventually started working for my teaching certificate. I worked as a long-term substitute in the area last year and I am so excited to be teaching here at Pearland High School.
