Ms. Lewis

Welcome to 5th grade at Rogers Middle School! I am Mireya Lewis. I am a 5th grade Science and Social Studies teacher at Rogers Middle School. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis on Education from the University of Houston Central Campus. I earned my Master's degree in Educational Administration from Texas Southern University. I am both ESL and GT certified. I have been a certified teacher for 18 years, and I am excited about continuing my career at Pearland ISD! My interests include all things music, cultural studies, science as well as research. I believe that- when teachers, parents, students, and administrators work together- ALL students can be successful in their attempts to grow intellectually! I look forward to providing engaging activities, and to facilitating the learning of all my students this school year.

    Grading Policies

Each week, Students will receive grades as follows:

    Science- 2

    Social Studies- 2

    Unit Assessments- Bi-weekly

To receive full credit on assignments/exams, students must: (1) Explain what is happening in the scenario; (2) pinpoint (circle, highlight, or underline) the most important information in the scenario; (3) submit notes and/or drawings to illustrate the process of incorrect answer choice elimination; and (4) justify their accurate final answer choice(s). I refer to this process as "showing one's work". Each of these requirements are worth 20% of the assignment grade, equaling to 100%/A+! Failure to follow these requirements may result in lower scores. An example of these expectations will be posted in Canvas, and I will model these expectations in class as well!
