Welcome! My name is Kim Matthes and I am looking forward to a fantastic 2022-2023 school year in Pre-AP Chemistry and Academic Chemistry!

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science with a minor in Chemistry from Texas A&M University. Although this is my first year to teach at PHS, I previously taught in Midland ISD. 

Chemistry is an exciting branch of science that focuses on the study of the composition, structure and properties of matter as well as the changes it goes through during chemical reactions. This course emphasizes reasoning,  mathematics and provides many opportunities to explore major topics with hands on laboratory exercises. 

My husband and I have two sons that are PISD students. Outside of the classroom, you will find me cheering on our sons at the wide variety of activities they are involved in, at a Texas A&M football game or searching for seaglass at the beach.
