Mary Beth Kirksey, Lead Counselor
I consider myself a professional student with a love for life-long learning and a desire to share that love with every student I encounter. My motto/educational philosophy follows that same trend of thought: "Learning Never Ends!" Being the 'baby of the family' of eight, I learned what my older siblings were learning, and loved being exposed to career choices. Our mother pushed us all to learn as much as we could, to continue our education into college so we could choose our path, then learn some more. I have enjoyed several careers in my life time, Postal Clerk, Restaurant Manager, teacher, and I have held a variety of counseling positions, counseling students with emotional disturbance labels, a drug prevention and intervention specialist, and finally, an academic counselor. I share this with students that are not sure of their goals in their teen years. Here at the PACE Center, it is my endeavor to open the eyes of our students to the world that awaits them, be it through college entrance or the work force. The small intimate feeling at the PACE Center is needed for our students that sometimes feel they have been overlooked or discounted by many. They may not be in the top five or ten percent of their graduating class, but they still deserve consideration and guidance. That's why I'm here at PACE --"Your place to Prepare, Persist, and Prevail"!!
Welcome to the PACE Center Counseling Department,
Mary Beth Kirksey
