Curriculum: HMH Algebra 2
You will need to bring the following items with you every day.
Three Ring Binder
Spiral notebook or Loose Leaf Paper
Pencil with Eraser
Graphing Calculator (it is highly recommended that students have access to a graphing calculator, such as the TI-Nspire CX, outside of the classroom)

Tests, Projects - 60%
Homework assignments will be checked every day. Work must be shown in order to
receive credit. Late homework will not be accepted.
*Some daily grades may be dropped at the end of each term based on teacher discretion. Excessive tardiness, unpreparedness, or failure to comply with the rules may result in grades not being dropped.
Make-up work/Late Work:
Make-up work is the responsibility of the student. Past assignments for students will be posted on Canvas so that students can get any make-up work they need. It is the student’s responsibility to find missed assignments and attend tutorials to make up tests and quizzes. Late work will absolutely not be accepted. Reassessments are limited to two opportunities per nine weeks.
- Show respect
- Abstain from eating or drinking (except water) inside the classroom
- Attentive and active participation in all classroom activities
- Present and on time to class with all necessary supplies
- No form of cheating is allowed (see cheating/plagiarism policy below)
- No talking during tests/quizzes.
- Follow all policies and rules of Dawson High School.
- Show work. To receive credit on any work turned in, it must have work shown.
- If class time is given to work on Algebra work then only Algebra work should be done, that is not the time to do work for another class until you have completed your Algebra. Work for other classes will be confiscated and not returned.
Any form of “academic dishonesty” will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for that assignment, quiz, or test. These forms include copying work from other students, knowingly giving your assignment/test to another student to plagiarize, etc. Further details on this policy are outlined in the DHS Student Handbook.
There will be consequences as a direct result of choosing to break the class rules. These include, but are not limited to student or parent conference, telephone calls home, changing seats, detention, and being sent to the office.
Electronic devices should be put away and should not be used in the classroom unless permission is given. If a student is found to be using their electronic device without permission, consequences will include but are not limited to a warning, confiscation of the device, the phone being turned into the office, detention, and office referral.
Tutorials will be conducted during Eagle Hour. If students choose to retake a test, they must make prior arrangements with the teacher to determine which day they will complete the retest.
3rd Period (9:03 AM – 9:52 AM)
- Please contact me by e-mail to schedule a conference.
We will be using Canvas in class this year. I will post the calendar, assignment list, and, on occasion, problem solutions. Periodically, I will upload reviews, assignments, and other resources in the Modules. If you need of copies of any papers given in class, this will be the place to find them.
Thanks for your support and I look forward to a great year.
