    TEA Update Guidance on Dual Credit Summer Enrollment

        • TSI (if student had an opportunity to take it)
        • Current Waivers/Exemptions apply (http://www.alvincollege.edu/dualenrollment/de-enrollment.html)
        • Incoming 9th/10th and/or any high school student unable to take the TSI prior to summer registration will only be allowed to take college courses without TSI obligation; these include: Psych 1300 – Learning Framework Comm 1307 – Intro to Mass Communication Spanish 1411/1412 – Spanish (we are prepared to add sections of each if needed)
        • Temporary measures in the absence of TSI:

    Test/ Transcripts

    College Level Course

    w/support as needed

     

    ENGL 1301

    High School Transcripts

    GPA: minimum 2.8-3 and average Language Arts (English II+) course work grade is a B or higher

    Test/ Transcripts

    College Level Math Course

    High School Transcripts

    GPA: minimum 3 and average Mathematics (Algebra II+) course work grade is a B or higher

    Dual Enrollment ACC Virtual Graduation

    Original Graduation Date: 

    • Dual Degrees - Friday, May 22, 2020
    • All Other ACC Graduates - Saturday, May 23, 2020

    Alvin Community College is planning a virtual graduation on the original dates, but there may be a delay by a week, depending on finializing the program. 

    All ACC Dual Graduates will have the opportunity to walk at the December 2020 ceremony. See your ACC Advisor for further details.

    Summer 2020 Registration:

    ·       Begins April 14th

    ·       All classes are online

    ·       The Summer Registration Form is also available online and in the ACC POD. Students will complete the form and the ACC DE Advisor will register them and provide additional information.

    ·       All DE students new to online learning will be enrolled in an Online Learning orientation. That link will be provided to them in their registration email.

     

    TSIA:

    ·       In the interim, ACC has identified multiple measures for placement for Summer 2020 until the TSIA becomes available.

    o   Dual Enrollment:

    §  TSI (if student had an opportunity to take it)

    o   High School Graduates planning to attend ACC after graduation:

    §  Will need to have their high school transcript and will need to have their GPA based on a 4.0 scale (either on their transcript or an email from you to the registering advisor).

    §  Students will be placed based on their 4.0 GPA, specific grades in English and Math, and other factors as defined by the ACC TSI Task Force. If you are interested in the details, please let your ACC Advisor know and they can share it with you.

    §  High School Graduates may also use the current Dual Enrollment PSAT/STAAR waivers for placement as well.

     

    Update March 30, 2020:

    • Spring 2020 Dual Enrollment Classes: Last Day to Drop is,Thursday, April 23, 2020
    • Dual Enrollment College classes start back up Monday, March 30, 2020
    • Summer 2020 Class Registration - April 14, 2020 (not April 2nd)
    • New Dual Enrollment Application - Deadline is June 1, 2020

    Spring 2020 Commencement Ceremony is currently postponed. Degrees/Certificatates will still be awarded and sent home in the mail.
