Dawson Concert Band named 2025 Citation of Excellence Winner

The Dawson Concert Band has been named a 2025 Citation of Excellence Winner by The Foundation for Music Education. Under the direction of Dominique McCray, the 2024–25 ensemble was recognized for its outstanding performance standards in a national competition that honors top non-varsity bands and orchestras.
The Citation of Excellence competition received over 150 submissions from high school ensembles across the country. Recordings were evaluated by collegiate adjudicators, with only the top 25% of entries named National Winners. The Dawson Concert Band’s achievement is particularly notable as it was the only sub non-varsity group in the nation to be named both a Winner and a Commended Winner.
This award highlights the hard work and dedication of the Dawson Concert Band students. The ensemble's success will be featured in national and regional publications and recognized at conventions. Additionally, their performance will be included on a compilation recording that showcases high-quality literature and achievements from top ensembles nationwide.
