Three Pearland ISD Students Recognized for Outstanding Leadership and Community Service

Three Pearland ISD students successfully completed their membership in Education in Action’s 2025–26 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council, joining a select group of 128 outstanding students recognized statewide.

After demonstrating exceptional leadership potential during the summer Lone Star Leadership Academy, these three students were invited to join the prestigious Alumni Council to continue sharpening their leadership skills throughout the school year. As part of their council responsibilities, each student completed intensive leadership skill-building lessons. Putting their training into immediate action, they designed, organized, and led dedicated service projects that involved recruiting and managing at least two other participants.

 

Katherine Doyle, Pearland Junior High West

Project: Flowers for Futures - Katherine, alongside two friends Cathy and Katherine, created 70 crochet flowers. These flowers were sold to raise money for a local nonprofit, Women Leading Success. The $300 raised went to financial and scholarship funding for single mothers. Katherine shared, “I had to learn how to manage my time to meet project deadlines.” Sponsor: Casey Loe, Teacher.

 

Nathalie Huynh, Pearland High School

Project: Threads of Hope - Nathalie recruited several friends to collect clothing, personal care items, and stuffed animals to donate to Sarah’s House. They collected six bags of donations from local businesses, family, and friends. The donations benefited those experiencing homelessness and people facing financial problems. Nathalie shared, “Faced with many setbacks, we found creative solutions to overcome them and achieve our main goal.” Sponsor: Lindsey Lundberg, Teacher.

 

Parker Stiers, Pearland High School

Project: Shining Hope: Rainbow Room Drive - Parker and his friend, Noah, hosted a collection drive where they collected around 10 large boxes of items and necessities including hygiene products, baby care items, and much more for Partnerships for Children. The items went to a "Rainbow Room," where families and kids in the system, or entering into it, are able to receive needed necessities. Parker shared, “I improved my ability to put myself out there to do more things like this.” Sponsor: Ashlyn Beard, Teacher.

Through these student-led initiatives, they made a tangible, positive impact on their local community while gaining invaluable, hands-on leadership experience. Descriptions and photos of their completed service projects are available to view on the Education in Action website.

Education in Action hosts the Lone Star Leadership Academies and Alumni Council programs annually, aiming to empower young Texans to become informed, proactive, and active leaders in their communities.
