Pearland ISD Academic Decathlon Teams Shine at State Competition
Pearland High School and Turner College and Career High School delivered outstanding performances at the state Academic Decathlon competition, securing third place in their respective large and medium school divisions. PHS also earned a remarkable first-place victory in the Super Quiz!
Individual students from both schools achieved impressive accolades:
Turner College and Career High School:
Varsity Division:
- Ryleigh Rich: Gold in Music, Silver in Essay, Bronze in Speech, and 5th Overall.
Scholastic Division:
- Ian Norwood: Gold in Art, Economics, Math, Music, Science, and Social Science, Silver in Literature, and 1st Overall.
- Jesswin Jacob: Silver in Math, and 5th Overall.
Honors Division:
- Daniel Tran: Silver in Music.
- Mia Rhodus: Silver in Art.
Pearland High School:
Varsity Division:
- Landon Guest: Silver in Art.
- Tadewa Oyewole: Gold in Music and Science, Silver in Essay and Math, and 2nd Overall.
Scholastic Division:
- Kelsi Barker: Bronze in Art.
- Kesler Do: Silver in Interview and Math.
- Vincent Custer: Gold in Math, Bronze in Art.
Honors Division:
- Jason Crandall: Silver in Math.
- Kaiden Vo: Silver in Art, Economics and Science, Bronze in Math, and 2nd Overall.
The two exceptional Pearland ISD teams will be awarded a total of $25,500 in scholarships.
