Pearland ISD Crowns District Spelling Bee Champion

District Spelling Bee 2026

Pearland Independent School District proudly hosted the annual District Spelling Bee on January 21, bringing together 19 outstanding spellers from elementary, middle, and junior high campuses across the district. Students demonstrated exceptional focus, confidence, and academic perseverance as they advanced through an impressive 26 rounds of competition.

The Bee culminated in an intense 18-round head-to-head showdown between two finalists, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats as each word raised the level of challenge. Two students earned a well-deserved tie for third place, highlighting the depth of talent represented across the district.

The championship word, “harbinger,” ultimately secured the title of District Spelling Bee Champion for Annika Bhagat, an 8th grader at Berry Miller Junior High School. As champion, she will advance to represent Pearland ISD at the Regional Spelling Bee in March, hosted at Houston Community College.

The district celebrates all participants for their dedication, resilience, and academic excellence and wishes our champion the best of luck at the regional level.
