Pearland ISD: New Director of Food Service Named

Tanya Edwards Director of Food Service

The Pearland Independent School District has named Tanya Edwards as the district’s new Director of Food Service.

A proud Pearland native and graduate of Pearland High School, Edwards brings a deep sense of hometown pride and a wealth of experience to her new leadership role. She will oversee all aspects of the district’s Food Service Department, ensuring that students receive high-quality, nutritious meals every day.

Edwards has been working in school food service since 2016 and has previously served as Food Service Director for both Sweeny ISD and Channelview ISD. Her extensive background in nutrition and school operations has equipped her to lead a department that supports student health, well-being, and academic success.

Edwards earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in nutrition with an emphasis in school food service from Texas Woman’s University.

“My goal is to ensure all Pearland ISD students receive high-quality, nutritious meals each and every day,” Edwards said.

Beyond her professional achievements, Edwards is also a dedicated Pearland ISD parent. Her three children currently attend district schools, making her commitment to student well-being both personal and professional.

Edwards officially assumed her role as Director of Food Service this fall and is already working to enhance the district’s meal programs with a focus on nutrition, quality, and care.
