Pearland ISD Student Named Top 300 Scholar in 85th Regeneron Science Talent Search

Society for Science

Pearland ISD is proud to announce that Geoffrey Liu, a standout senior at Dawson High School, has been recognized as one of the top 300 scholars in the 85th Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS).

This prestigious honor identifies Liu as one of the nation’s most promising young scientists. His winning project, "A Gamified Go/No-Go Paradigm for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit," addresses critical needs in medical research and patient care through innovative software design and behavioral science.

The Regeneron STS is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. This year, the program saw its largest applicant pool in decades, with over 2,600 students applying from 826 high schools across 46 states and 16 countries.

As a Top 300 Scholar, Geoffrey will receive a $2,000 award, and Dawson High School will also receive $2,000 to support continued excellence in STEM programming.

Scholars were chosen based on:
  • Exceptional Research: The quality and originality of their independent projects.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated commitment to their communities and schools.
  • Academic Promise: High performance in rigorous coursework and recommendations from mentors.

On January 21, 2026, the Society for Science will announce the top 40 finalists from this group of 300 scholars. Those finalists will travel to Washington, D.C., in March to compete for more than $1.8 million in additional awards.
