Pearland ISD Students Shatter Records at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Auction

Pearland Independent School District is proud to announce the historic success of its student artists at this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Auction. Contributing to a record-breaking year for the Rodeo, 13 Pearland ISD students generated a staggering $543,000 in total sales.

The achievement is a rare feat of exclusivity, out of more than 200,000 contest entries from across the region, only 90 pieces advanced to the prestigious Auction Lots. Pearland ISD students secured nearly 15% of those coveted spots showcasing the level of talent fostered within the district’s art programs.

"This milestone is a true testament to our talented art students and our hardworking, dedicated art teachers," Victor Raygoza, Pearland ISD Fine Arts Coordinator said. "To see our students' creativity recognized on such a massive stage and to contribute over half a million dollars to the auction total is an incredible honor for our entire community."

Leading the Pearland contingent was Leah Hong from Dawson High School, whose work, "Lot #4 — Class Champion," was auctioned for an impressive $100,000. Other major highlights included Iris Wu of Pearland Junior High West, whose piece earned $86,000, and Massey Ranch Elementary’s Adalyn Simpson, whose work brought in $80,000.
