Pearland Junior High West Band Named National Winner in 2025 Mark of Excellence Competition

The Pearland Junior High West Honors Band, under the direction of Meredith Bishop, has been named a National Winner in the prestigious 2025 Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors project. This recognition places the band in the top quarter of ensembles nationwide.
The Mark of Excellence is a highly competitive national music competition sponsored by the Foundation for Music Education. It is designed to recognize and celebrate music ensembles that demonstrate exceptionally high standards in performance. This year, the competition received 478 entries from 40 states across the country.
Ensembles are judged by a panel of nationally renowned adjudicators. The top quarter of the competing ensembles are awarded the title of National Winner, while the second quarter are named Commended Winners.
The Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors project provides a valuable benchmark for music programs and celebrates the achievements of young musicians.
