Sablatura Middle School Student Selected for Prestigious Texas Bluebonnet Award Luncheon Role
Sablatura Middle School is thrilled to announce Elliott Walker has been chosen to represent the entire Greater Houston Area (Texas Library Association District 8) at the official Texas Bluebonnet Award Luncheon this spring. The event will take place during the annual Texas Library Association Conference in Houston.
This highly selective honor recognizes students who demonstrate a deep passion for reading and literature. Elliott’s role at the luncheon will place her center stage where she will meet the author of this year's winning Texas Bluebonnet Award book, which is announced at the conference. Following the reveal, Elliott will join the author on stage to participate in a live interview, offering a student perspective on the winning title.
The Texas Bluebonnet Award is one of the most prestigious children's literature awards in the state, encouraging Texas students in grades 3-6 to read a list of nominated books and vote for their favorite.
“We could not be more proud of Elliott for earning this extraordinary opportunity,” Sablatura Middle School Librarian, Rachael Welsh said. “Her commitment to literacy is truly inspiring.”
The luncheon is a highlight of the TLA Conference and provides students like Elliott with a chance to engage directly with the authors who shape their reading lives.
