Three Pearland ISD Elementary Schools Win Crest Award

Texas Counseling Association

The CREST, Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas, award, sponsored by the Texas School Counselor Association, recognizes schools that demonstrate a profound commitment to the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling. This recognition places Pearland ISD counselors among a distinguished group of elite educators across the state.

This year’s honorees include a mix of multi-year winners and standout programs:
Tara Lemaire (Carleston Elementary): Two-time winner
Landry Angel (Rustic Oak Elementary): Two-time winner
Dalia Flores (Cockrell Elementary)

“This award is a wonderful recognition of the invaluable work our counselors provide for our students,” said Dr. Lisa Nixon, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. “This year’s winners from Pearland ISD show their true dedication to supporting student well-being and academic success, and this is a well-deserved honor.”

Established in 2005, the CREST program evaluates school counseling programs based on their ability to improve student lives and achievement across academic, career, and personal/social domains. To earn the award, counseling teams prepare a rigorous digital submission judged by reviewers across Texas based on five key categories: Introduction to the School and the Role of the Professional School Counselor, Program Implementation Cycle, Foundational Components, Four Service Delivery Components, Program Curriculum.

CREST serves as a continuous improvement tool, allowing counselors to evaluate their impact, promote their programs to stakeholders, and use empirical data to demonstrate the effectiveness of their guidance.

By achieving this standard of excellence, Carleston, Cockrell, and Rustic Oak Elementaries have proven their ability to foster a supportive environment that yields measurable results for students. These programs ensure that every child has access to the resources needed to navigate both their education and their personal growth.
