Sheri Maston

Pearland Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheri Maston as the new Executive Director of Special Programs. Maston brings nearly three decades of dedicated experience in education, with a strong focus on fostering inclusive environments and ensuring student success.

In this pivotal role she will oversee the Special Programs department, which encompasses a wide range of essential services for Pearland ISD students. Her primary duties will include leadership and oversight of Special Education, Section 504 services, and Dyslexia Services, ensuring comprehensive support for all learners.

Maston’s extensive professional journey spans almost 30 years in education. She began her career teaching English/Language Arts at the middle school level in general education before transitioning to special education in 2010. After three years as a special education classroom teacher, she moved into central office administration. She served as a Program Specialist in Pasadena ISD, primarily focusing on Resource and Inclusive Services. Most recently, Maston spent the last eight years as the Director of Special Education in Fort Bend ISD. In that capacity, she has supervised PK-12 resource/inclusion and specialized programs, oversaw the coordinator of the RDSPD (serving as fiscal agent for 11 member districts), and oversaw the Assistant Director for the Early Intervention Academy.

Maston holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from LSU-Shreveport and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. She also earned her mid-management certificate from Lamar University. Her professional certifications include Special Education, ELA 4-8, and ESL.

"I am incredibly excited to join the Pearland ISD family and work alongside the dedicated Special Programs Team," Maston said. "My goal is to build upon the already strong foundation in place and collaborate closely with the Curriculum and Instruction team to enhance inclusive practices for all students. I firmly believe in providing every student with the opportunity to succeed by ensuring access to rigorous instruction in the least restrictive environment. My vision is centered around fostering academic and functional growth through the support of highly skilled educators and meaningful interactions with peers."

Outside of her professional life, Maston is a proud mom to two children. Her daughter is embarking on her senior year at the University of Arkansas, majoring in Psychology and Human/Family Development, and is currently finalizing her post-graduation plans. Her son is entering his junior year at Clear Falls High School, where he is a varsity offensive lineman. She cherishes watching her children grow and navigate their life journeys. She also enjoys traveling to new places whenever possible and taking time to relax and recharge.
