Linda Maldonado sits on the computer trying to figure out how to log in a much-anticipated video call that is scheduled to happen in five minutes. She is a mentor through Pearland Independent School District’s RISE Mentoring program and is about to meet with her mentee, Adan. This is the first time the two of them get to see each other this school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pearland ISD remains concerned about the COVID-19 positivity rate at Jamison Middle School. In order to further mitigate the potential spread, the district is transitioning all Jamison students to remote synchronous learning beginning Thursday, Jan. 21 through next Friday, Jan. 29.
After dedicating 36 years to Pearland Independent School District, Deputy Superintendent Nanette Weimer has announced her retirement.
Pearland and Dawson high schools represented Pearland ISD in the UIL State Marching Band Competition on December 15 in San Antonio. The bands qualified to advance to the State contest after competing against more than 20 other schools and placing 1st and 2nd respectively at the UIL Area Marching Contest on December 5.
Pearland Independent School District was recently recognized by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the 2020-21 budget year. This is the third time the district received the prestigious recognition by ASBO, a reflection of its commitment to fiscal integrity.
