The Pearland ISD Education Foundation welcomed Reesha Brown as its new director on Sept. 19, replacing Natalie Clogston, Ed.D., who was named executive director of strategic partnerships at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

DHS percussion ensemble selected to perform at International Conference in Chicago
Dawson High School percussion ensemble, under the direction of Louis Boldrighini, was recently selected to perform at the 76th Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference to be held on December 20 in Chicago, Illinois.

Nineteen Pearland ISD students competing for National Merit scholarships
Pearland Independent School District proudly announces 19 semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. These semifinalists include Pearland High School’s Sophie Adams and Geneva Cline and Dawson High School’s Catherine Bai, Ana Budimlic, Iris Chen, Aaron Cheng, Ivy Gong, Isabela Haskins, Scarlett Kamga, Lillian Keaton, Matthew Li, Ethan Nguyen, Gracin Nguyen, Faith Victoria Ni, Raina Qiu, Tanmay Savargaonkar, James Williams III, Noah Yared and Harrison Zhu.

Livestock, art and culinary talents took the spotlight during the eleventh annual Pearland Independent School District Livestock Show & Career Expo Sept 7-9 and 15. The hometown show at the Richard L. Wagoner Agricultural Facility gave students an opportunity to show off their career and artistic skills.

District educator recognized with Outstanding Hispanic Teacher Award
Debbie Tatuaca was recently recognized with the Outstanding Hispanic Teacher Award, presented by the Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce. With more than 22 years in education, Tatuaca currently serves as a Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (ELPAC) Facilitator.

Pearland Independent School District will be holding “District Talk - Parent Forum” hosted by Pearland ISD Superintendent Larry Berger during the month of October. The goal of the meetings is to present an overview of the district and discuss broad topics, parent concerns and ideas. Families are encouraged to submit their questions online prior to attending the meetings in an effort to cover as many topics as possible.

Pearland Independent School District students’ Advanced Placement achievements continue to climb. According to a College Board report, 763 Pearland ISD high school students achieved “scholar” status this year compared to 710 in 2021 and 698 in 2020.
