Pearland High School National Honor Society Recognized by American Heart Association
Pearland High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) was recently named American Heart Association’s (AHA) Rookie of the Year after raising $10,000 during the American Heart Challenge. The American Heart Challenge is a learning project in which participants are offered community service hours and scholarship opportunities through spreading the word about heart disease.

District recognized with award for excellence in budget presentation
Pearland Independent School District was recently recognized by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the 2022-23 budget year. This is the fifth time the district received the prestigious recognition by ASBO, a reflection of its commitment to fiscal integrity.

Students from the Pearland FFA recently participated at the Brazoria County Fair. Pearland Junior High West 8th grader Sophia Guzzetta won Grand Champion Rabbit Showmanship, Pearland Junior High East 8th grader Tyler Hammond won Grand Champion Simmental – Heifer, Turner College and Career High School senior Lorelai Dodson won Reserve Grand Champion Lamb and Senior Lamb Showmanship, Pearland High School 11th grader Samantha Guzzetta won Goat: Class Winner and Senior Goat Showmanship and Shadycrest Elementary 4th grader Kasen Douglas won Reserve Champion Market Broilers – Poultry.

Business Office recognized with multiple awards for financial excellence
Pearland Independent School District’s Business Office recently received three awards recognizing its financial excellence, including the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for Fiscal Year 2020-21, the GFOA Award of Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for Fiscal Year 2020-21 and an “A” for Superior Achievement under School Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
