District Welcomes 191 New Teachers

Pearland Independent School District welcomed 191 teachers during the new teacher orientation kick-off on Aug. 2.

To welcome incoming educators, the district hosted a breakfast and luncheon including gift bags donated by local businesses with coupons, special offers and giveaways as a thank-you for serving Pearland ISD students.

Breakfast was generously sponsored by Memorial Hermann while Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union and the Pearland ISD Education Foundation sponsored the luncheon.

On the second day of orientation, Whataburger, Association of Texas Professional Educators and National University sponsored breakfast, and the Pearland ISD Curriculum & Instruction Department sponsored lunch for new teachers. On the final day of orientation, U.S. Employee Benefits Services Group sponsored breakfast.

Gift bags were provided by local organizations and businesses and contained approximately $300 worth of giveaways and coupons for new teachers.

Speakers during the new teacher breakfast and luncheon included Pearland ISD Board of Trustees’ president Sean Murphy, Mayor Kevin Cole and Superintendent Larry Berger.

In his welcome address, Berger shared his vision for the upcoming school year, inspiring words to motivate teachers and deliver world-class education.

“As a Pearland ISD world-class employee, we know you are committed to empower, inspire and develop courageous, confident students. I see individuals who have a passion for students and who will do whatever it takes to help them succeed – that’s building Pearland Proud,” he said.
