Education Foundation welcomes new director
The Pearland ISD Education Foundation welcomed Reesha Brown as its new director on Sept. 19, replacing Natalie Clogston, Ed.D., who was named executive director of strategic partnerships at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Brown brings over 10 years of experience in communications and school public relations.
She began her career in the newspaper business as a reporter, photographer, copy editor and page designer at the Port Arthur News.
With dreams of making an impact in public education, Brown got her start in school public relations at Humble ISD as a public information intern before joining Pasadena ISD as a communications specialist. She was promoted to the role of communications and alumni coordinator where she led various communications and marketing projects, planned district events, wrote state-level applications, and provided support to alumni groups and the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation.
Brown graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of West Georgia, and she earned a Master of Arts in Health Communications from the University of Houston. She is a member of the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), the Houston Area School Public Relations Association (HASPRA) and the Gulf Houston Area Association of Education Foundations (GHAAEF).
“I am incredibly honored and grateful to the Pearland ISD Education Foundation and to Pearland ISD for giving me the opportunity to serve as director of this amazing organization,” said Brown. “I look forward to working with the board of directors, community partners, volunteers and staff to continue the mission of the education foundation - to provide students and teachers with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed.”
Brown has already hit the ground running and started charting her goals for the coming months.
“My plan is to learn as much as possible and build relationships with community partners so I can continue the organization’s legacy of excellence,” she said.
The Pearland ISD Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that fosters creative approaches to education through private grants and involvement. The organization awards funds through a volunteer Board of Directors made up of business, community and educational leaders. Although the foundation coordinates its efforts with the school district, it operates as an independent charitable organization.
