Pearland ISD students bound for FPS State Bowl, DHS secures top spots in Texas
A total of 109 students from Dawson High School, Pearland Junior High East, Pearland Junior High West, Alexander Middle School, Rogers Middle School and Sablatura Middle School have recently qualified to participate in the Future Problem Solving State Bowl to be held in Waco, TX, on April 8-10. Two Dawson High School teams won the top two Community Problem Solving spots in Texas at the state qualifier competition, earning entries to the Future Problem Solving Program’s international competition to be held in June.

The FPS state-qualifying topic this year was “Insects.” In addition to developing a solid grasp of the topic, students used their research to predict future issues and solutions related to it. FPS stimulates critical and creative thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills while preparing students for leadership.
FPS coaches include DHS’s Angela Ruth, PJH East’s Elizabeth Myers, PJH West’s Lisa Shapiro, Alexander’s Elesha Alexander, Rogers’ Lynda Ketterer, and Sablatura’s Cassandra Maldonado and David Serrano.
