Pearland Independent School District’s Debbie Tatuaca was recently recognized with the Outstanding Hispanic Teacher Award, presented by the Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce.
With more than 22 years in education, Tatuaca currently serves as a Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) Facilitator. Nominated by her previous principal, she is described as passionate, energetic, leader, humble and selfless. At the time of her nomination, Tatuaca was a sixth-grade dual language Math teacher at Jamison Middle School.
“Mrs. Tatuaca is a model of leadership through her relationships with the community. She is very outgoing when it comes to her parent-teacher relationships,” Amanda Gordon, Jamison Middle School Principal said. “She tutored students who were struggling on Saturdays, did car-rider dismissal daily to tell her students goodbye, attended events for her students during her personal time and lead a campus event for Dual Language parents exposing them to the countries of Latin America.”
Additionally, Pearland High School class of 2022 graduate Alexa Vela was recognized with the Outstanding Hispanic Student Award, also presented by the Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce.
