Junior high and high school bands excel in UIL competitions

Pearland Independent School District junior high and high school bands have much to be proud of with an impressive recent accomplishment.

Eight out of nine high school concert bands received the prestigious sweepstakes award, a first division in concert and sight reading. Additionally, all nine high school bands received a first division in sight reading. Contests held late last month at Dobie High School for the high school bands and at Pearland High School for the junior bands.

10 out of the 12 junior high bands received a sweepstakes, with a first division in concert and sight reading. Additionally, all 12 bands received a first division in concert.

“This very special accomplishment speaks volume to the quality of teaching and learning that we have on our campuses at all levels at Pearland ISD”, Tom Bell, Pearland ISD director of fine arts, said. “Great teachers are working with amazing students who are fully supported by their campus and district administration. This is one of those things that make you proud, and I have to pause and reflect on how lucky we are to be in Pearland ISD.”
