District presents two Broadway musicals

Experience a night of music and theatre at Pearland Independent School District with Pearland High School’s Front Row Theatre production of “Cats” and Dawson High School’s Ovation Theatre production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's “Cinderella”.

Pearland High School’s Front Row Theatre presents “Cats”, a musical set amongst a junkyard playground that tells the story of uniquely-named cats who are part of a tribe titled “The Jellicles”. During their special night of the year, “The Jellicle Ball”, they share their stories with Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to “The Heaviside Layer” and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the classic and award-winning musical “Cats” can be seen in the Turner auditorium (4717 Bailey Rd.) on Jan.17-19 and 24-26, at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $12 for premium seating.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella

A vibrant version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's “Cinderella” will soon take place at Dawson High School.

The enchanting world of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” is a beloved tale told and retold to several generations. This is not just the story of a young woman who lived a life at the mercy of her cruel stepmother and stepsisters and who meets her prince charming with the help of her fairy godmother. The musical coming to DHS straight from Broadway is a new version by writer Douglas Carter Beane (Sister Act, Xanadu) and brings the same classic elements with some surprising new twists.

The musical Rodgers and Hammerstein's “Cinderella” can be seen in the DHS auditorium (2050 Cullen Blvd.) on Jan. 24-26 and 31 and Feb. 1-2 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $12 for premium seating and may be purchased here.
