PHS and TCCHS represent district at Texas SkillsUSA competition

SkillsUSA        Pearland and Turner College and Career high school students demonstrated valuable workforce skills during the Texas SkillsUSA conference in Corpus Christi April 4-7.       

       A total of twelve PHS and TCCHS students placed in the top three of their respective categories:

  • Doug Hlavaty (PHS) – First place in the Cabinet Making division of Job Exhibits
  • Doug Hlavaty and Justin Hopman (PHS) – Second place in Construction Materials Identification
  • Eric Hoeppner (TCCHS), Emre Eiswirth, Jaden Isabel, Randall McCord, Stephen Post, Christian Ruhle and Ruben Zavala (PHS) – Third place in Automotive Quiz Bowl
  • Schuyler Larson (TCCHS) – Second place in the Texas SkillsUSA Memorial Scholarship
  • John Raney (PHS) – Third place in Aviation Maintenance Technology

       SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industries working together to ensure a skilled U.S. workforce.

       A national nonprofit organization, SkillsUSA serves high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.

       Coaches include Lillian Wilson for TCCHS and Jeff Woodruff, John Larson and Steve Hall for PHS.
