High schools make U.S. News & World Report list

Pearland ISD proudly recognizes two campuses for making the 2016 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list.

The rankings seek to recognize high schools that not only display strong academics through measurable data but also serve all students well, whether or not they are college-bound.

U.S. News used a four-step process to determine rankings:
  • Students’ performance compared to other students in the state
  • Disadvantaged students’ performance compared to other disadvantaged students in the state
  • A minimum 68 percent graduation rate (based on the federal Every Student Succeeds Act)
  • College-readiness performance (Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data)
Dawson High School earned a silver medal: http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/texas/districts/pearland-independent-school-district/glenda-dawson-high-school-19685.

In addition, Turner College and Career High School received a bronze medal: http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/texas/districts/pearland-independent-school-district/robert-turner-college-and-career-high-school-146199.

Of the 19,908 public high schools eligible to be included in the rankings, only 10.9 percent received silver medals, and 17.8 percent bronze medals.
