Dawson High School Junior earns Dean’s List award at robotics competition
Team 5414 Pearadox, Pearland Independent School District’s Robotics Team, participated in the FIRST In Texas District Greenville event at Greenville High School. Their participation in the competition resulted in three awards, including the Dean’s List Award presented to Dawson High School student Drew Moore.
Drew is the third team member to ever earn the Dean’s List Finalist award. He was nominated by his teammates for his excellent technical skills, academic prowess, leadership and for being an Eagle Scout, the highest attainable rank in the Boy Scouts of America program. To earn the Dean’s List Finalist award, Drew was interviewed by judges and competed against other nominees.
Drew is the Chief Engineer at Pearadox, making innovative manipulators, overseeing team members and helping others. Additionally, he is the robot driver, making sure the robot scores efficiently and quickly while moving through all the other robots on the field.
Competing alongside 42 participating teams in the FIRST In Texas District Greenville event, Pearadox earned the place of second seed alliance captain with their creative and efficient robot. The team dominated the playoffs, quarterfinals and semi-finals, making it to the finals. In addition to being a finalist and having a team member honored with the Dean’s List Award, Pearadox earned two more awards: the Autonomous award, presented to the team for having a consistent and reliable autonomous code and third place runner-up for the Safety Award.
