YMCA Operation Backpack kicks off July 9

Operation Backpack

       For the 15th consecutive year, the Vic Coppinger Family YMCA is collecting school supplies to help Pearland ISD students get set for the new school year.

       From July 9 - Aug. 9, the community is encouraged to donate backpacks and school supplies for students who might otherwise start classes unprepared.

       Community members can help in two ways:

  1. Drop off new backpacks and school supplies July 9 - Aug. 9 at one of the drop-off locations:
  • Vic Coppinger Family YMCA
  • Blue Ridge Landfill
  • Brazoria County Counseling Center
  • Claws and Paws
  • Crosspoint Church
  • Christy Buck Team / Infinity Real Estate Group
  • F45 Gym (3695 Kirby Dr.)
  • H-E-B (288, Blackhawk and Pearland Parkway)
  • Keller Williams Houston Preferred (2734 Sunrise Boulevard)
  • Lakes at Country Place Clubhouse Subdivision
  • Memorial Hermann (Pearland and Southeast)
  • New Hope Church (Alvin campus)
  1. Visit the Vic Coppinger Family YMCA during operating hours throughout the drive to help sort and stuff backpacks.

       Suggested donations for Pearland ISD students include. . . .

  • Plastic pocket folders with brads and notebooks (spiral and composition)
  • Paper (loose leaf and construction)
  • Glue (stick or bottle), 12-inch rulers and safety scissors
  • Crayons, markers and colored pencils
  • Pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners and erasers
  • Zippered pencil bag
  • Construction paper
