District offers enrichment activities throughout the summer
This summer, Pearland Independent School District students will have an opportunity to continue to learn and stay engaged while also having fun through Pearland Link ‘n Learn, a 10-week program that offers instructional enrichment activities for students grades K-8.
“COVID-19 brought a new way of learning to families and school districts over the past three months. Pearland ISD knows the importance of providing learning over the summer to lessen the loss of achievements gained during the regular school year,” Pearland ISD Director of Secondary Instruction Bonnie Scheidt said.
Created by Pearland ISD curriculum specialists in partnership with district teachers, the reading and math lessons will be available weekly, each week focusing on one specific concept and will include a teacher-created video and two practice activities. The program’s goal is to provide students with an opportunity to review previously learned concepts and to continue to deepen their knowledge while staying connected to teachers during the summer months through the videos available.
“My son and I started exploring Pearland Link ‘n Learn and we love it. The look, flow and navigation ease are phenomenal. My wife and I love the fact that it’s very simple, non-threatening and fun, in addition to parents and kids being able to see their teachers, learn a little more and have some fun while doing it,” Lance Botkin, Pearland ISD Board Vice-President and parent of a Rustic Oak third-grader, said.
Pearland Link ‘n Learn grade level lessons begin the week of June 1.
