Berger named Assistant Superintendent for Support Services
Pearland Independent School District welcomes Larry Berger as its Assistant Superintendent for Support Services.
The former Pearland ISD’s director of maintenance, operations and facilities was promoted by the board of trustees effective early March, prior to the district closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Berger replaces longtime Senior Assistant Superintendent Cary Partin, who recently retired.
“My vision is aligned with the district’s vision of serving the needs of all students and our community. My goal for support services is to build upon our current successful programs and continue to strive for improvement through collaboration and reflection,” he said. “Everything we do is in support of student learning and we must hold ourselves accountable to ensure we can meet their needs every day and, in the process, have a little fun along the way.”
A dedicated and servant professional, Berger has 21 years of combined experience in education, having served as Pearland High School’s principal and assistant principal for nine years, prior to being Pearland ISD’s Director of Maintenance and Operations.
“I am most excited about the opportunity to work with a great team of professionals that are dedicated to supporting the academic and social achievement of all students and seeing how we can elevate and celebrate our duty to serve the success of Pearland ISD,” he said.
Berger also holds a history of professional achievements. In addition to being a two-time winner of the district’s Secondary Principal of the Year Award, he was honored with the statewide H-E-B Excellence in Education Secondary Principal Award in 2015.
"The motto that has guided my professional career is 'Do what is right and do it all the time,'" he said.
