Clayton named new Alexander Middle School principal

Alexander Middle School welcomes Andrea Clayton as its new leader.

The Pearland Independent School District Board of Trustees named Clayton as principal of Alexander during its October 13 meeting.

A devoted educator with over 16 years of experience under her belt, Clayton began her career as a math and science teacher and a volleyball, basketball, soccer and track coach at San Antonio ISD. Prior to becoming Alexander’s principal, she was an assistant principal at Sablatura Middle School for three and a half years and at Clear Creek Intermediate for seven years, and also a charter member of Berry Miller Junior High, where she was a science teacher and volleyball, basketball and track coach for two years.

Her motto as the new Alexander Middle School principal focuses on creating a positive, lasting impact. Clayton shared a quote by Facebook Chief Operating Officer, Sheryl Sandberg, as an inspiration: “Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.”

A proud mother of two daughters attending Pearland ISD and wife of a Captain for the Houston Fire department, Clayton is passionate about collaborative work and helping encourage students to achieve success.

“My vision for Alexander is to continue to work collaboratively with parents, teachers and students to ensure the students at Alexander are prepared for greatness once they walk out of our doors,” she said. “My favorite thing about education is being a part of helping a child discover their true talents and passions and finding a path to utilizing these passions in life.”

Clayton holds a master’s degree in education from Concordia University Texas and a

bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota. She’s excited to lead the Alexander team during unprecedented times.

“During these challenging times, it is going to take teamwork and passion which radiates through the halls at Alexander. I look forward to collaborating, supporting and working with the teachers to continue their great success,” she said.
