Moody named Pearland ISD's Deputy Superintendent

David Moody       Pearland Independent School District welcomes David Moody as its new Deputy Superintendent. The former Pearland ISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources replaces longtime Deputy Superintendent Nan Weimer, who recently retired.

“I am grateful for this new opportunity and Dr. Kelly’s, Pearland ISD’s Superintendent, trust in my leadership – I look forward to supporting his vision for our district,” Moody said. “I am honored to step into a position in which Nan Weimer held for so many years. She hired me over 21 years ago as her assistant principal at Sablatura Middle School and has been a steadfast mentor for me and so many other leaders in our district.”

With a combined 26 years in education, Moody has dedicated 21 of those to Pearland ISD. He spent the first five years of his career teaching 5th grade math and English Language Arts (ELA) in Deer Park ISD and joined the Pearland ISD team as an assistant principal at Sablatura, then Pearland Junior High West. Subsequently, Moody served as a principal for ten combined years at PJH West, at the former Ninth Grade Center and at Dawson High School, which he opened and led for seven years.

Moody has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the past six years and is proud of his department’s and previous campuses’ strong culture, focused on serving and supporting others, while embracing challenges and achieving consistent success.

“I always want to win for our kids, our employees and our community,” he said. “We will win with planning/strategy, a great effort, a team approach and a relentless heart for others. I want to help accomplish all the critical academic measurables, but equally want to win people for our district…to view it as home, as a professional support to reach all personal goals and as a footstep to a brighter future.”

Moody holds a master’s degree in mid-management and a bachelor’s degree in education, both from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. His passion for education and for making an impact will help guide him in his new position with the district.

“I will work with a heart for our employees and students – I will care deeply about our district’s best interest. I will measure most of my decisions connected to how I’m impacting others,” he said. “I will work with a competitive spirit and encourage others to do the same.  I will celebrate the success of our campuses, departments and especially our students.”

As Pearland ISD’s Deputy Superintendent, Moody looks forward to new learning opportunities, to experiencing the life and excitement happening at the campuses and to working alongside some of the district’s very best and brightest leaders.
