McGrew named Pearland ISD director of human resource services
Pearland Independent School District welcomes Shayla McGrew as its new director of human resource services.
With 21 years of experience in education, McGrew spent the last six years as Silverlake Elementary’s principal. Prior to that, she spent eight years as the assistant principal at Barbara Cockrell Elementary. She also served as an assistant principal at Rustic Oak and CJ Harris in a split assignment for one year. McGrew dedicated a combined six years as a first and fifth grade teacher in Lufkin ISD, DeSoto ISD and at Pearland ISD’s own Silvercrest Elementary.
“I look forward to supporting administrators, teachers and staff members to ensure we serve our students as best we can,” McGrew said. “I am also excited to recruit for the district, welcoming new employees dedicated to world-class performance.”
McGrew holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, both from Stephen F. Austin State University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Administration at Texas A&M University – Commerce.
“My vision is one that reinforces the importance of recruiting, selecting and retaining employees in order to positively impact student achievement. The success of our employees leads the success of our students,” she said.
McGrew will focus on the motto “teamwork makes the dream work” in her new position to help support the Human Resources department and all district employees.
“We will work collaboratively to provide our employees the level of support needed to successfully fulfill their responsibilities,” she said.
