District awarded Transparency Star in Traditional Finance

Pearland Independent School District was recently awarded a Transparency Star in Traditional Finance by the Texas Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program, recognizing the district for their outstanding efforts in making their spending and revenue information available.

Transparency Stars recognizes local government entities that provide easy online access to important financial data, providing citizens with clear, consistent information about public spending in user-friendly formats.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Texas Comptroller for our efforts in providing financial transparency to our community,” Jorgannie Carter, Pearland ISD Chief Financial Officer, said. “We are committed to offering clear, reliable and meaningful financial information to our taxpayers. This award acknowledges our effort in achieving this goal.”

The Comptroller’s office launched the Transparency Stars program in March 2016 to recognize cities, counties and school districts making important strides to greater government transparency. Local government entities can apply for stars in the areas of:

  • Traditional Finances,
  • Contracts and Procurement,
  • Economic Development,
  • Public Pensions, and
  • Debt Obligations.

After receiving an initial star for Traditional Finances, remaining stars may be awarded in any order. To learn more, visit
